About Montgomery Creek Irrigation

Water and land brought our family to the Eastern Sierra Nevada more than 5 decades ago.  The historic Cinnamon Ranch was purchased in 1965 by Richard Moss.  There he raised 3 children.  His daughter Diane grew up on this unique and unmatched property until she went off to UC Davis.  There she met and married Dave Doonan who always had a passion for land but never the opportunity.  Dave and Diane moved back to Cinnamon Ranch with their 3 kids, Jake, Matt and Katie in 2000 after selling Dave’s veterinary practice in Gardnerville Nevada.  Shortly thereafter, Dave and Diane purchased Montgomery Creek Ranch in Benton California and struggled to get the ranch into production and raise three young kids in a very remote part of the state.  This is where all learned self sufficiency and the ability to fix whatever it was that was broken.  All three kids grew up understanding hard work and how water and land are the keys to their future.  Each went to college, Jake to UC Davis graduating in Agriculture and Managerial Economics, Matt from the University of Wyoming in Agriculture Communications and Katie at Washington State University in Sustainable Agriculture and Soil Science.  Each of us is dedicated to the future of agriculture and the wise use of land and water resources. Montgomery Creek Irrigation was founded in 2017 by a team of growers dedicated to helping farm and ranch owners take control of their water movement and irrigation needs.
